Louisiana Attorney Michael Garber

As the founding attorney of this Louisiana law firm, I’ve practiced general law and served clients in Louisiana as a lawyer for more than three decades.

After finishing law school at Louisiana State University in 1974, I became a law clerk in the Louisiana 14th Judicial District Court, and soon began practicing general law in 1975.

After seven years in practice, I became the in-house legal counsel and vice-president of Delta Energy Resources, Inc. There, I oversaw and engaged in all types of corporate legal issues, including land and lease administration, and negotiating and drafting informal trade letter agreements and formal contracts; I also made appearances on behalf of the company at administrative and judicial hearings.

In 1986, I joined the law firm of Badon & Ranier, where I practiced in civil litigation and appeals, including personal injury law, criminal defense, DWI defense, family law, real estate law, wills and estates, oil and gas, and commercial matters. In that time, I authored a number of  articles presented at the Louisiana State Bar, including "Ethics in Trial Practice" in 1989, and  "Punitive Damages in DWI Cases" in 1991.

In 2000, I opened my own general law practice, serving neighbors and friends in Lake Charles in matters of family law, DWI defense, personal injury law, and business and commercial law.

I’m a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, and I previously served as Assistant Examiner for the Louisiana State Bar Association Committee on Bar Admissions.

As an active member of the community, I also served as a member of the Calcasieu Parish School Board, was a member of the Board of Directors of Louisiana Epilepsy Association, and also served on the Board of Directors of Southwest Louisiana Health Counseling Service.
